Product Information

Laminated Roller Blinds

Laminated roller blinds are created by laminating a stiffened backing cloth to the face fabric at a very high temperature. The backing cloth that is fused to the face fabric can be a blackout lining, this blackout lining will reduce the light penetration into the room and is either cream or white in colour, not black. All visible fabric edges will be over locked and the laminated blind will be manufactured into an endless cord chain system with either left or right hand operation. As standard the fabric on a roller blind falls down the back of the blind and hangs closer to the window. A reverse roll option is also available where the fabric rolls over the top and around the front of the blind. A reverse roll blind hangs further away from the window and clears any protruding handles, and the only fabric visible will be your chosen face fabric. All blinds are supplied with full fixing brackets included.

Roman Blinds

Efficient and aesthetically appealing Roman blinds are manufactured using a combination of the latest technology and traditional skills. All blinds are hand finished to produce a very high quality and to ensure there is no visible stitching on the face of the blind, a design feature that highlights the superior appearance of the finished blind. The blind reverse will be lined and the pockets are formed within the lining, containing the sewn-in rods, guaranteeing continuity of pattern. Every roman blind being hand finished with all of the face fabric covering the head rail mechanism that is manufactured into an endless cord chain system with either left or right hand operation. Alternatively an electric motorised operation can be installed (please contact us for further information). All blinds are supplied with full fixing brackets included.

CURTAIN HEADINGS

Pencil Pleat
Pencil pleat is the standard heading for curtains and valances. A 7.5 cm (3") tape is used with three hook positions to suit all types of track and pole. Curtains are supplied ungathered for you to gather to the required width.

Pinch Pleat
Classic and elegant, Pinch Pleat or Triple pleat or French Pleat is a decorative heading suitable for most fabrics. Pinch pleats are more gathered than pencil pleats and have permanent sewn-in pleats for a more luxurious, tailored look.

Please Note: As Pinch pleat is a fixed, hand sewn-in heading, it is important that you quote an accurate track/pole width when ordering. This will allow us to sew your curtains to the correct width. Please note that the size and spacing of the pleats will vary slightly with each track/pole size.

Tempo/Wave Type
Designed for use with any pole and track system. Universal Tempo heading creates soft wave like curves for a clean comtemporary look.

Eyelets
Designed for use with poles our standard Eyelets are 40mm in diameter. Eyelet headings are modern, uncluttered and create soft wave like curves for a clean comtemporary look.

LININGS
100% cotton crease resistant sateen lining available in ivory or white

Blackout lining completely blocks out light penetration and provides excellent heat and sound insulation. We use a 3-pass blackout, the most dense and superior quality that is very soft to allow your blinds and curtains to hang beautifully. It is available in ivory and white.

Interlining bulks the curtains to provide a thicker and more insulating curtain, ideal for draughty windows and delicate fabrics. It is very effective for retaining heat and protecting against noise. Interlining is strongly recommended for silks and fine fabrics to protect them. It is a separate lining which is sandwiched between the face fabric and lining and is generally hand sewn into place.

All lined curtains come with weights in all seams and corners.

The Process of your Made to Measure Items

Once we receive your order and payment we:

Order your fabric (as we keep our overheads to a minimum, we do not have large warehouses with fabric rolls waiting to be used, so we order your fabric directly from our suppliers as soon as we receive your order)

Quality Control (whilst we work in partnership with some of the best fabric manufacturers, we always check your fabric in our workrooms to ensure there aren't any minor imperfections that may be visible on your finished item)

Wait to be made (once your fabric is checked your item will more than likely have to wait for its turn in the workroom to be made, at busier times this queue will be longer)

Time to be produced (our products are all beautifully made to your specifications, our roller blinds are generally the quickest to be made, then our laminated rollers take slightly longer, and due to the hand workmanship involved with our roman blinds and curtains these items take longer to be produced in the workroom)

Quality Control (once your item is produced our workroom will hang it and check that the look, mechanism and overall workmanship is all up to the standards of our quality control checks)

Packing (your item(s) will then be wrapped in protective materials, hand packed ready for despatch)

Despatch (depending on your order your package will be sent to you by a signed for courier or mail method, to ensure that we can track when you receive your order)

Make It Safe says the BBSA

Many millions of blinds are sold every year in the UK and the BBSA has some simple guidelines for parents and carers of babies and small children as looped blind cords can pose a potential hazard:

Do not place a child's cot, bed, playpen or high chair near a window so they may reach a blind cord

Do not place furniture near a window that a child could climb on to reach a blind cord

Do make sure that a safety device is fitted to keep the cords taut or out of reach

Download a copy of the BBSA's free make it safe brochure at:

http://www.bbsa.org.uk/admin/uploads/bbsa_mis_window_blind_safety_leaflet_0711.pdf57.pdf

Parents and carers are reminded that:
"Complete elimination of the strangulation risk can only be achieved by keeping cords, chains, and tapes and similar out of the reach of children. Use of additional safety devices may reduce the risk of strangulation but cannot be considered foolproof ……Persons in charge of children are ultimately responsible for following the safety instructions provided by the manufacturer."
